DONATIONS FOR REUSE
Donations of sewing and needlecraft materials help keep SewGreen going. We sort and redistribute the items for reuse and resale. Some materials are donated to other charitable organizations. We strive to find a reuse destination for every item, so that nothing goes to the landfill.
Items we can accept include:
* Clean, folded fabric in usable condition (no mildew, no odor or stains, no pins), in all sizes from quilting scraps to bolts;
* Yarn, knitting needles, crochet hooks, and other needlecraft tools;
* Thread, sewing notions and equipment;
* Needlecraft kits and materials;
* Fiber fill or quilt batting;
* Books and magazines on sewing and any fiber or fashion art;
* Sewing machines of any vintage, that hopefully still have all their parts. Accessories and manuals are a huge plus.
Please, NO: curtains, linens, clothing or pieces of clothing, nothing with pattern pieces attached, nothing wadded or excessively wrinkled. Curtains, linens, and clothing may be donated to the Salvation Army or other thrift store. Tompkins County's Recycling Center accepts clothing and textiles for recycling and reuse. It must be folded and put in clear plastic bags. For more information, visit the RecycleTompkins website: www.recycletompkins.org
